What is parenting, really?
Parenting is being someone's safe harbour while teaching them to sail their own ship.
Who does it matter to?
The obvious answer: Children. They need someone to believe in them before they believe in themselves, to set boundaries they'll thank you for later, and to love them unconditionally through their worst moments.
The not-so-obvious answer: Everyone else. Teachers deal with the products of our parenting. Employers inherit our work ethic lessons. Friends experience our conflict resolution skills. Society lives with the citizens we're raising.
The truth that is rarely mentioned:
Parenting represents one of life's most significant transformations: we begin with completely vulnerable beings and, through devoted love, persistent hope, and abiding faith, guide them toward becoming individuals who inspire our deepest pride. Acknowledging our own need for guidance in this parenting journey isn't weakness—it's wisdom that serves our children's highest good.
